Post-doctoral fellows health and dental insurance options will be determined by their funding.
A benefits packet will be mailed to your home address.Your packet will outline your benefits eligibility and choices, and the effective date of coverage (date of hire and/or appointment). Your benefits selection must be mailed within the 60 days from date of coverage. Benefits are deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis if you are a salaried employee. Stipendees are not eligible for pre-tax benefits as outlined by NIH.
An annual Open Enrollment is held each Fall with an effective date of January 1. During this period, you are able to change your benefits and coverage levels. The only other time a change may occur is during certain life qualifying events: birth of a child, adoption, divorce, marriage, death. You must make the change within 60 days of the occurring event. Research Fellows and Visiting Fellows who do not qualify for Faculty/Staff Benefits will complete an insurance application for UHS with Blue Cross/Blue Shield during their registration with the Cell Bio Administrator.
International Scholars who have purchased health and dental insurance from their home country must bring a copy of their insurance policy.

TAP allows Harvard personnel to take courses at most Harvard facilities. You may also take job-related courses at other institutions. TAP is available to professional, administrative, support and teaching staff.
Education Assistance Fund

The Office of Work and Family at Harvard University provides information on work/family programs, services, and policies at Harvard and acts as a clearinghouse for family resources in Cambridge, Boston, and the surrounding areas. The Office helps individuals and departments find ways to balance family needs with workplace obligations.

EAP is a free and confidential service which provides resources and consultation to Harvard faculty, post-docs, and staff who work at least 17.5 hours per week and receive a Harvard paycheck. Services are available 24 hours a day. Counselors take calls from 8:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Crisis support is available 24 hours a day. Harvard Medical School's Child Care Scholarship Program provides assistance to Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Dental Medicine employees to help offset the cost of childcare. Applications are accepted each year between April 1 and May 2. Scholarships range from $1000 to $5000 and are awarded to eligible faculty, post-docs, and staff on a need basis.
